Un-Limited Motorsport with Duckhams Racing has today (31 July) outlined its Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship aspirations, including goals for the remainder of the season, plans to build a competitive car during the off-season and its target to add a second entry in 2025.
The team’s ethos since its inception earlier this year has been one of determination, growth and ambition, with an eagerness to continue increasing its presence in the championship.
Team Owner, Bob Sharpless, has been the driving force behind the squad’s rapid progress with a clear aim to further that development by adding a second car to its line-up next season.
The Duckhams-backed outfit and its talented young driver Daryl DeLeon have made significant strides since the start of the season, arguably showing their best pace yet at Croft last time out.
Despite his limited experience with front-wheel-drive cars, Daryl has shown remarkable promise, scoring overall points in eight races so far this season. These encouraging results have left the team reevaluating its aspirations for the remainder of the year, with consistent points and top ten finishes now on the agenda.
The team will continue to discuss its plans with Daryl for 2025 – as well as negotiating with other drivers in regard to the second seat – and will release further details of this evolving project over the coming weeks.
Bob Sharpless, Team Owner, said: "This team wasn't even thought of 12 months ago, and in January, we decided to compete at the pinnacle of British motorsport.
“We didn't know how the results would go or how reliable the car would be. So far, the car's been reliable. It may have been, up until Oulton Park, not quite quick enough, but we’ve shown good pace since then and we just want to keep building on that.
"For 2025, we want to have two cars out there. We would be delighted to keep Daryl and add another driver to the line-up, but we will see. That's actively what we're now starting to do: having conversations with drivers, partners, etc. We want to improve the car, make it faster, more driveable, and to have the budget to improve the car for next year and the remaining races of this season.
"We would love to get points everywhere. An independent win would be lovely, but points are the main achievement for now."
Tom Granger, Team Principal, notes: "I've worked with other teams before, and there's a very clear difference in how everyone gets on here at Un-Limited Motorsport with Duckhams Racing. Instead of just buying solutions like bigger teams, we come together to find creative ways to overcome challenges, creating a closer-knit environment with a lot of integrity.
“The goals for the rest of the year would be to progress into the top ten. If we can sneak a good result, we will. Moving forward, the more we do, the more we learn, and the quicker we should be.
“For 2025, we plan to run two cars and are we are also looking at the new junior touring car series. In 2025, people can expect the unexpected from our team."
Dave Tyson, Team Manager, adds: "The level of the people we have in the team is very high. Our targets are to be more consistent, get points at every round, and build our car into a competitive package.
"Budget is always a critical factor of course, and with the right support we believe we can make great progress. We have a good structure now within the team, and this is clearly shown with the marked improvements in the car.
“Daryl has shown remarkable progress too. He's a raw talent and we're committed to nurturing his skills and providing him with the experience and machinery needed to excel."
