Our ambition is for the BTCC to be the global leader in sustainable improvements and carbon neutrality for national level motor racing championships.
This strategy sets out our vision, objectives and an implementation roadmap, with key actions and targets which can be measured over time to show our progress towards our future state. There are myriad opportunities for the BTCC to make a real difference in the coming years and beyond.
However, this strategy isn’t the very beginning of our journey towards sustainable improvements as we have been developing informal sustainable practices for many years now. These include banning single use plastics in race paddocks, running 20% sustainable fuel in our cars (aiming to increase to 100% for 2025 / 2026), and the introduction of the Hybrid system was also a huge technological development for the championship. We’re proud of these milestones, but we’re always looking forward and this strategy is our commitment to being at the forefront of sustainable improvements in the BTCC.
We’re thrilled to take you on our journey in contributing to a better, more sustainable future - whilst still entertaining our dedicated and loyal fans in the United Kingdom and across the world.
Our Mission Statement
We will achieve this by developing and executing the policies and practices outlined in this strategy, striving for carbon neutrality even where reductions in emissions are minimal due to the nature of our sport.
Implementation of the strategy, through measured and achievable actions with realistic time frames, will be continually assessed with success criteria and key performance indicators to improve environmental impacts across 6 central pillars:
Targets
National and Global Relevance
Our strategy is aligned with the sustainable frameworks and goals already outlined by key organisations and bodies.
