Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS bids to retain advantage on Scottish Sojourn

Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS will look to retain its advantage at the head of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship standings this weekend when the series heads for Knockhill, with Macklin Motors also providing additional support for one of its drivers.

Two podium finishes from three races at Croft a fortnight ago when the season resumed after the summer break saw 2022 title winner Tom Ingram move to the top of the standings, whilst team-mate Tom Chilton strengthened his place inside the top ten with his first victory of the campaign.

An impressive charge through the field from the back of the grid for a top ten finish from Ronan Pearson, and an encouraging showing from Nick Halstead, capped a solid weekend for the EXCELR8-run team, which also closed the gap to top spot in the Teams’ Championship race.

Ingram’s 21-point lead in the title race is the largest of the season to date, but he makes the trip to Scotland well aware of the need to keep pushing to retain his advantage against a highly competitive field.

Award-winning Scottish automotive retailer Macklin Motors has also announced that it has increased its backing for the EXCELR8 team, ensuring Pearson is ready to rock ahead of the latest rounds.

The event at Knockhill is the only time that Britain’s premier racing series heads north of the border, with Macklin Motors – which is part of the same wider group as team title partner Bristol Street Motors – marking the occasion by confirming a boost in support for the Hyundai team and its local racer.

The 22-year-old is based in nearby Dunfermline, where Macklin Motors operates four of its 18 dealerships across Scotland.

Ronan has close ties with the Dunfermline dealership through family members that work there and paid a visit back in May to show off the trophy he secured for his maiden win in the series at Brands Hatch.

The additional backing will not only help Ronan chase success on track at Knockhill this weekend but will also aid in him in completing his second season in the BTCC as he looks to battle for the Jack Sears Trophy title.

Macklin Motors is set to play a prominent role in proceedings across the Knockhill weekend, with Ronan proudly carrying additional Macklin Motors branding across the #14 Hyundai alongside the Scottish Saltire and – for this weekend only – a flash of the Pearson family tartan.

Ronan Pearson, Macklin Motors-backed Team Bristol Street Motors driver, said: “I’m proud to have raced with the support of Macklin Motors since I joined the grid at the start of last season, and it’s fantastic to now see that backing increase ahead of my home event.

“Knockhill was my best weekend of the season last year, and hopefully I can enjoy a repeat this time around to celebrate with three strong results.”

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Macklin Motors, said: “Our relationship with EXCELR8 Motorsport has been a huge success for the Macklin Motors brand, and Ronan has been a fantastic ambassador both on and off track since he joined Team Bristol Street Motors last season.”
