Daniel Rowbottom’s motorsport career began in karting, where he won the 2001 Super 1 National Comer Cadet Championship and the Renault Elite League - Super Libre title in 2005. His transition to car racing came in 2008 with a season in the SEAT Cupra Championship, but financial constraints temporarily halted his progress.
Rowbottom returned to competitive racing in 2015, competing in the Lotus Elise Trophy before moving to the Renault UK Clio Cup in 2016. He proved his skill in the single-make series, securing three race wins and finishing fourth in the overall standings in 2018.
In 2019, Rowbottom made his BTCC debut driving a Ciceley Motorsport-run Mercedes-Benz A-Class. Although he planned to continue with the team in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused delays that ultimately forced him to step away from the season.
However, Rowbottom returned stronger in 2021, joining Halfords Racing with Cataclean in a Honda Civic Type R alongside Gordon Shedden. That year, he claimed his first BTCC victory at Oulton Park, secured multiple podiums, a pole position, and dominated the Jack Sears Trophy, clinching the title before the final race weekend.
Continuing with Team Dynamics in 2022, Rowbottom achieved another pole position and a podium at Croft. He consistently performed well, regularly finishing in or near the top ten, and ended the season 12th overall in the championship.
In 2023, Rowbottom joined NAPA Racing UK, part of a four-car team, where he doubled his career wins and podiums in a single season. Looking ahead to 2024, he aims to challenge his championship-winning teammate Ash Sutton, remaining with NAPA Racing UK for a second season as he continues his pursuit of further success.
