WHO RULED QUALI IN 2021?

22nd November 2021

Today the Official BTCC website is looking at the 2021 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship's top qualifiers throughout the campaign, crunching the numbers to find out whose average qualifying position puts them on top.

The man heading the way in 2021 is Team BMW driver Colin Turkington with an average of P6. The two-time Goodyear Wingfoot Award winner bagged a pair of pole positions and consistently qualified in the top 15 throughout the year including six top six finishes.

BTC Racing's Josh Cook holds the second-highest spot with seven, marking the average place of any driver who didn't secure pole position throughout the season and proving that consistency is very much key within Britain's premier motorsport series.

Jack Sears Trophy winner Dan Rowbottom and 2021 Drivers' Champion Ash Sutton's average qualifying positions are tied on 7.7, while a pair of pole positions for Halfords Racing with Cataclean man Rowbottom gives him the edge over the three-time champion.

Despite only taking part in nine of the ten events on the calendar, Senna Proctor's pace in qualifying proved impressive and his appearance in the top five qualifiers throughout the season makes it three out of five for the Honda Civic Type R.
