Following the launch in London today (12 October) announcing that premium manufacturer Infiniti will be entering the BTCC in 2015, Series Director Alan Gow has welcomed the marque:
"I’m delighted to welcome the premium brand of Infiniti to the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
"No doubt their entry will be a complete surprise to most - but in fact we have known about, and provided our assistance to, this project from its inception some 18+ months ago. I guess that proves just how good we are at keeping things confidential...
"When I introduced the TOCA BTCC Licences it was made clear that we would make available the (short-term) loan of two licences for such a manufacturer-backed team, to provide them with immediate entry into the series - so this is a perfect demonstration of our licensing policy at work.
"With the addition of Infiniti, some 14 models from 11 brands will be on the grid of the 2015 BTCC - perhaps even more. Some of these are manufacturer-backed, like Infiniti, some are semi-manufacturer supported and some are true independents - but all have the exact same competitive instinct and desire to succeed that makes the BTCC the great championship that it is.”
