MG KX Momentum Racing will maintain its driver line-up for 2014 as Yorkshire racer Sam Tordoff has re-signed to race for the team for a second season in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Tordoff impressed in his first full year behind the wheel of a BTCC car, scoring a podium at the Brands Hatch opener before going on to take his first pole position and race win later in the season at Snetterton. The 24-year-old eventually finished sixth in the championship with a total of six podiums to his name.
Tordoff and team-mate Jason Plato locked out the front row for MG KX Momentum Racing no less than five occasions in 2013, and with a year of touring car experience and data behind him, Tordoff now feels he can mount a strong championship challenge. Speaking to AUTOSPORT, Tordoff said, “My goal for the 2014 season is to return to the BTCC for a shot at the title. 2013 was a learning year where I gained invaluable experience, began to understand an NGTC car and adapt to the racecraft.”
Tordoff retains KX Akademy backing for the coming season, and added, “I will now return as a better driver to fight for wins and achieve consistency, which will put me much closer to the championship battle.”
