The BTCC returned to Croft for the eighth event of the year, showcasing three spectacular races plus another thrilling Qualifying Race in North Yorkshire. The weekend proved another important chapter in the story of the 2026 campaign.
As the season continues towards its climax, take a listen to the eighth instalment of Tin Top Tuesday powered by Power Maxed, which was aired earlier this week (Tuesday, 8 September).
The podcast opened with none other than Mikey Doble (LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing), fresh from his lights-to-flag victory in the final race of the weekend. The two-time winner in 2026 spoke about the development of the new Audi, his consistent campaign and growing confidence in the BTCC, as well as his battle for the Independent Drivers’ Championship and his hopes for the final two events of the season.
Lewis Selby (NAPA Racing UK) was the next guest on the show, reflecting on his rookie BTCC campaign after stepping up from the MINI Challenge. Selby discussed the challenge of adapting to a touring car, learning alongside Ash Sutton and how his unexpected opportunity to join the grid came about. The NAPA UK Managing Director also spoke about balancing his racing with his day job and his intention to return for a second season in 2027.
Alan Hyde also caught up with former BTCC race winner and current Driving Standards Advisor James Cole, who explained his role within Race Control, how incidents and penalties are assessed and why the championship has to maintain consistency when applying driving standards. The pair also found time to discuss Cole’s career away from the circuit with The Classic Rock Show and Rumours of Fleetwood Mac.
Árón Taylor-Smith (Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport) was next on the show, looking back on the highs and lows of his 2026 campaign and a difficult weekend at Croft. The Brands Hatch race winner spoke about the progress made with his car and engineer Craig Porley, his optimism ahead of Silverstone and Brands Hatch.
Content creator Tom Gray, better known as ‘That Guy Gray’, was the final guest of the show. Having first been introduced to the BTCC paddock by Nick Halstead in 2024, Gray spoke about his approach to creating content around the personalities of the championship.
The 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship grid now heads to Silverstone (26/27 September) for the penultimate event of the campaign.
