Oulton Park set the scene for a rollercoaster weekend that sees the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship head into the summer break.
The Cheshire-based circuit delivered once again with its formidable undulating characteristics coming to light. The run down to Island Bend, up over Hill Top and into the braking zone at Hislops were where the main talking points took place for the battles out in front.
As we begin the five-week break before heading to Croft (27-28 July), take a listen to the latest instalment of TinTop Tuesday that was aired earlier this week (Tuesday 25 June).
The podcast hosted a number of familiar voices with Mikey Doble (Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing), scoring his first BTCC podium at Oulton Park, being the first guest on the show.
"For a driver in the British Touring Car Championship, getting on the podium for your first time is one of those moments that you just never really forget." said Doble. "Getting the pole before a podium is probably not the order in which I might have anticipated those two achievements when I started!"
Christian Dick (Team Principal, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK and LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ) is the next guest on the show, calling in from Portugal making the most of the summer break right from the off after spells of illness so far this season. The head of the Speedworks-run outfit talks on running four cars, up from three in 2023, Rob Huff settling into the team, Josh Cook being the third Toyota winner this season and more.
Alan Hyde also caught up Árón Taylor-Smith (Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing) leader of the Independents Trophy. Along with Taylor-Smith, Chris Smiley (Restart Racing) also joined the show coming off the back of his highest scoring weekend for the newly formed team, leaving Oulton Park with over triple the points of any weekend this season.
