The Goodyear Wingfoot Award: Two events to-go

13th September 2023

With only two events to go in the 2023 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship campaign, let’s check in to see how the Goodyear Wingfoot Award for drivers’ qualifying performance is shaping up so far this season…

NAPA Racing UK's Ash Sutton leads the charge, after securing five pole positions across the campaign so far, with a 39-point advantage over qualifying rival Jake Hill (Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport).

In fact, NAPA Racing UK have secured eight out of the eight pole positions available so far in 2023, with Dan Rowbottom taking a season-opening pole position at Donington Park back in April, and Dan Cammish fighting his way to the front at both the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit and Croft.

Although, a consistent points haul has promoted Hill into second-place in the standings, with Cammish and Rowbottom remaining in sixth and eighth respectively; the 29-year-old BMW driver has qualified within the top five at five events this season, taking sixth in the remaining two.

Tom Ingram occupies third, having put his BRISTOL STREET MOTORS with EXCELR8 Hyundai i30N into the top 10 every race this season, with the 30-year-old just six points behind Hill. While One Motorsport with Starline Racing driver Josh Cook sits in fourth, a further 11 points in arrears, ahead of four-time BTCC titleholder Colin Turkington (Team BMW).

With only two opportunities left to collect points, both Silverstone (23/24 September) and Brands Hatch (7/8 October) will be crucial opportunities for the drivers to battle it out for that coveted Goodyear Wingfoot Award.
