Today (12 April), official testing for the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship got underway, with a 3-hour session running across the morning at Brands Hatch.
These tests mark the second day of BTCC’s 2023 Season Launch, and the first point on the agenda involved capturing photos of the full grid.
Then it was time for the on-track action, with the pitlane officially opening at 10am. Colin Turkington was the first driver to hit the track, before incoming rain slowed down the action.
A couple of red flags were waved, with the first being for Ricky Collard’s Toyota ending up in the gravel on the approach to Clearways, and the second for Stephen Jelley (Team BMW) at Druids.
However, these did not stop plenty of times being set, with 21 drivers getting stuck-in across the session.
By the checkered flag, only just over three tenths separated the top five; the reigning champion Tom Ingram (BRISTOL STREET MOTORS with EXCELR8) had secured the fastest lap, with Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK), Dan Rowbottom (NAPA Racing UK), Rory Butcher (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK) and Dan Cammish (NAPA Racing UK) hot on his heels.
Keep an eye out for the action this afternoon, with another test running 14-17pm.
