NAPA Racing UK star bidding to become record five-time Champion
The 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship heads to Silverstone this weekend (26/27 September), with the Northamptonshire venue’s National Circuit hosting Rounds 25, 26 and 27 as the campaign reaches its penultimate event.
Josh Cook (Speedworks Corolla Racing – Toyota), Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK – Ford) and Mikey Doble (LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing – Audi) shared the victories last time out at Croft, with Sutton's success taking him to 55 career wins and fifth outright on the BTCC's all-time list.
The four-time champion now holds a commanding 115-point advantage over NAPA Racing UK teammate Dan Cammish, while reigning champion Tom Ingram (Team VERTU – Hyundai) sits a further eight points adrift. With six races remaining, Sutton's pursuit of a record-breaking fifth Drivers' title continues at Silverstone, where he has the opportunity to establish an unassailable advantage ahead of the season finale at Brands Hatch.
Small circuit, big moments
At just 1.64 miles and six corners, Silverstone's National Circuit produces some of the most exciting and closest racing of the season, with its long straights and tight turns traditionally creating plenty of opportunities for the order to change.
The Northamptonshire venue has also regularly played an important role in the closing stages of the championship. Just two years ago, Ingram and Jake Hill left Silverstone level on points ahead of the Brands Hatch finale, while in 2022 only seven points covered Sutton, Hill and Ingram heading into the final event.
Few drivers on the current grid have shone at Silverstone quite like Ingram. Across the last five events at the circuit, he has collected four victories and eight podium finishes — more than any of this year's field — while his 56.875s lap from 2025 remains the current race lap record. Now, Ingram will need to recreate that recent magic to keep his title defence alive.
The driver of the #80 Hyundai will be further buoyed heading into the weekend, having more TOCA Turbo Boost (TTB) to his name for the first time since the second event of the season.
Last season demonstrated just how many different stories Silverstone can produce. Daniel Lloyd (Restart Racing – Hyundai) took the opening contest to give the team its maiden outright BTCC victory, Ingram claimed Race 2 and Sam Osborne (NAPA Racing UK – Ford) completed the weekend with his first career win on his 202nd start.
Daryl De Leon (WSR – BMW) also left his mark on the event, setting the circuit's current 56.734s Qualifying benchmark, with the entire field completing a lap in well under a minute in dry conditions.
Points to play for
Sutton may have breathing space at the top of the standings, but the battle behind is far from settled, with Cammish and Ingram leading the pursuit.
The fight for the remaining top ten positions is just as intense, with a compact group of six drivers separated by just 21 points.
Doble is very much part of that overall battle – currently sitting eighth in the standings – but critically heads to Silverstone with a 33-point advantage in the Independent Drivers' Championship, while LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing also continues to lead the Independent Teams' standings.
Dexter Patterson (Steel Seal with Power Maxed Racing – Audi) remains in control of the Jack Sears Trophy, while Alliance Racing/Ford and NAPA Racing UK continue to lead the Manufacturers'/Constructors' and Teams' Championships respectively.
With points available in Saturday's 'Race to Pole' before the traditional trio of races on Sunday, Silverstone represents another major opportunity across every championship battle before the field heads to Brands Hatch for the final three rounds of 2026.
TV, Timetables and Tickets
Complementing the tin top racing will be another packed support programme, with the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain, Porsche Sprint Challenge Great Britain, Wera Tools F4 British Championship certified by FIA and the MINI CHALLENGE all in action across the weekend.
Saturday's qualifying sessions and 'Race to Pole' will be streamed live via ITV Sport's YouTube Channel from 1400, with the Qualifying Race getting underway at 1505. ITV4 and ITVX then take over on Sunday from 1030 for more than seven-and-a-half hours of live coverage.
Continuing the championship's expanded global coverage, Sunday's action will also be streamed live via the BTCC YouTube Channel outside the UK and North America, while fans in the United States and Canada can follow the action on the RACER Network. The three BTCC races are scheduled for 1115, 1430 and 1720 (BST).
