Jake Hill sits at the top of the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship as the ultra-competitive field heads to the scene in which the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport driver has won at in three successive seasons.
The first of these wins came in the MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square Ford Focus ST back in 2021. Race two would see the #24 finishing in ninth as the number 11 ball was picked to place Hill third on the grid for the final race of the day.
The Kent racer took advantage of a great start as he blasted by Jason Plato off the line, completing the move around the outside at Copse on lap one.
After passing one Vauxhall Astra into Copse Hill would do so again as he overtook polesitter Daniel Lloyd, this time on the inside, to take the lead of the race. The pair would complete the rest of the reverse-grid race nose to tail as Hill set the fastest lap to win by 0.698 seconds.
2022 was a different story for the now BMW 330e M Sport driver. After starting on the front row, a second-place finish in the opener would set Hill up for race two after following polesitter and race one winner Rory Butcher for the entirety of the opening bout.
Or so you would think… after a poor launch off the line the #24 would fall behind Adam Morgan to third after the run to Copse. The race would appear to get worse after a dive from Gordon Shedden into Brooklands, whilst passing Morgan, and Ashley Sutton following around the outside at Luffield saw the ROKiT MB Motorsport driver fall to fourth.
Despite the setbacks, Hill would go on to make some stellar moves and set a race lap record that still stands tall today. The Kent Racer would complete his run to the front of the field by getting a great exit out of Luffield, and a superb run to be ahead of Butcher before going through Woodcote.
After a win in races three and two in previous years, Hill would make the correct tyre choice as the rain began to fall in race one of 2023 for his latest triumph at the Northamptonshire circuit. After polesitter Mikey Doble would unfortunately complete an extra formation lap, Hill would start the race in third.
Colin Turkington and Tom Ingram would start ahead of the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport driver, both on dry tyres. As Hill started on wet tyres and the rain fell on the formation lap, the BMW 330e M Sport driver was in the lead just metres after the lights went out.
The Kent racer would go on to lead every lap of the opening race of the day to take the victory. Completing three race wins in three years, Hill would go on to win the race by a commanding gap of over five seconds.
These wins would see Hill tie for third in victories at Silverstone on the current grid, alongside Team BMW driver Turkington with only Ingram and Tom Chilton ahead. Can the #24 add to his tally next week (22 September) to retain his championship lead heading into the season finale at Brands Hatch?
