A pulsating Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship title battle heads to Snetterton this August (8/9), with four teams in the thick of the fight as the season enters its second half. Just 39 points covers the top six in the championship, and with eight different winners in the opening 18 rounds, the title race is wide open as the BTCC rolls into Norfolk.
Reigning champion team WSR took a triple victory at Croft last time out, and with wins shared by Andy Priaulx, Sam Tordoff and Rob Collard, the BMW 1-Series has rocketed back into the title battle.
At the top of the standings, Honda's Gordon Shedden leads BMR's (VW) Jason Plato by ten points, with Matt Neal (Honda) and reigning champion Colin Turkington (BMR) poised to attack. MG's Andrew Jordan is also in contention and could take his first win of the season at Snetterton.
There are many more teams and drivers capable of springing a surprise at Snetterton, including Power Maxed Racing's (Chevrolet) Josh Cook and Dave Newsham, plus Rob Austin (Audi), Aron Smith (BMR) and Tom Ingram (Toyota). And look out for Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton's brother Nicholas, who made a successful debut at Croft and will be in the hunt for his first points finish in Norfolk.
Snetterton is the perfect place for a summer party in the August sunshine, with its panoramic spectator banks overlooking an arena-style infield section where the drivers will be jostling for position. A packed support package includes action from the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Ginetta Juniors, Ginetta GT4 Supercup and MSA Formula. You can also enjoy an atmosphere-filled campsite with live music, bar and food stalls on Saturday evening.
