Morgan's momentum into Silverstone

14th September 2023

A couple weekends ago, Team BMW's Adam Morgan rounded out the eighth event of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship on the Donington GP circuit (26/27 August), with a podium in the final race.

After qualifying in eighth, the 35-year-old had a difficult start to the day in the opening bout, slipping back into 12th. However, Morgan quickly bounced back in race two, manoeuvring his BMW 330e M Sport through the pack into ninth place.

It was only up from there, starting fourth in race three’s partially-reversed grid and battling past a race-long rival to take third, to score his fourth podium of the year.

"It's always nice to finish on the podium, and makes the drive home so much sweeter," said Morgan after the final contest. "It was such good way to finish – but having spoke about the positives, we do still have a few bits to work on, especially after the mistake in race one with the set-up.

"But in race two we still moved forward and who am I kidding, it's always nice to be on the podium! Bit of champagne and another trophy!"

Now the Team BMW racer sets his sights on the penultimate event of the 2023 season: Silverstone (23/24 September).

Having secured a podium on the 1.64 mile National circuit in 2022, Morgan hopes "we can carry this momentum into Silverstone. Towards the end of race three at Donington we had a bit more pace which is promising. Ultimately its such a competitive pack, you do have to come up with something intuitive to get round them! But we are in a good position to get stuck in."
