More success for Pirtek Racing

30th January 2014

2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship-winning team Pirtek Racing added to its already impressive list of accolades this weekend, picking up an award from the prestigious Motorsport Industry Association (MIA).

The Eurotech squad that runs Pirtek Racing in the BTCC celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013, and was presented with the prize for Teamwork at the MIA’s annual Business Excellence Awards in recognition of the close-knit group’s achievement in winning the title this year. The award, selected by leading industry figures, was won against mighty opposition as the other teams on the shortlist included the Red Bull Racing Grand Prix team and the works Aston Martin sports car team.

“I’m bowled over that our team has been recognised in the company of teams like Red Bull and Aston Martin,” said Pirtek Racing team principal Mike Jordan. “Winning this award is a fantastic accolade for us and completes a run of major awards: it has been an amazing time since the end of the BTCC season at Brands Hatch in October.

“We are a small team and every member of the team has worked incredibly hard, so this award is really for them and also for our loyal sponsors who have supported us so well and made all this success possible. I’m very proud of everyone involved in our team.”

The recognition of the effort and commitment made by teams in the BTCC stands testament to the series’ current strength in the world of motor sport, and the #1 Pirtek Racing Honda Civic goes into 2014 as the car to beat.
