MOFFAT WEATHERS THE STORM TO SECURE POINTS FOR ONE MOTORSPORT WITH STARLINE RACING

17th August 2023

On home soil, One Motorsport with Starline Racing driver Aiden Moffat battled unpredictable weather conditions to secure vital Championship points last weekend at Knockhill (August 12/13).

Moffat fought hard in Race One as he set off in the hope of a good result. The sun was ready to break until lap 14 when the heavens opened. This was a struggle for the entire field as they were all on slicks.

A couple of cars managed to pit for wet tyres on that lap but Moffat stayed out and as a result found himself aquaplaning off the track at various points before being forced to retire on lap 17.

For Race Two, Moffat had to join the back of the pack due to work being carried out on his Honda Civic Type R. After battling with the other high calibre contenders, the Scotsman made up 4 places which took him to 19th by the chequered flag.

The beginning of Race Three was far from ideal as the rain took everyone by surprise once again. After a change to wet tyres and a number of cautious safety car laps, we were ready to get the racing underway for the final bout of the weekend.

From the opening lap Moffat was on the pace and started to steadily overtake the other cars. His confidence in the wet conditions aided his efforts to climb up the grid.

After starting 19th, the Scotsman brought his car home in seventh which bagged him and the team vital points in the process.

Moffat now sits 13th in the Drivers Championship standings as the teams gear up for the next race weekend.

Aiden Moffat, One Motorsport with Starline Racing:

“I don’t mind the wet, but even so, that felt a bit special and I am really pleased with the points haul for both me and the team. Can we have Donington next week?”

The Championship will continue next week on August 26/27 as the series heads back to Donington Park – this time on the Grand Prix circuit – for Rounds 22, 23 & 24.
