Mikey Doble crowned 2026 Independent Drivers' Champion

Mikey Doble capped off a sublime Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season at Brands Hatch this past weekend (10/11 October) by clinching the 2026 Independent Drivers’ Championship title.

On what proved to be a finale to remember for the LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing driver, Doble held his nerve to secure his second championship crown in three years - having lifted the Jack Sears Trophy back in 2024.

The 27-year-old’s path to glory has been nothing short of impressive this term, with the Audi A3 Saloon racer chalking up a total of seven Independents’ Trophy wins and a further eight top-three finishes in the class.

Along with two overall race wins and Race To Pole success at Silverstone, Doble - along with teammate Aiden Moffat - also helped LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing bag the Independent Teams’ title too.

Arriving at the Kent circuit holding a 25-point lead, Doble kicked off the season finale in sublime style as he put himself in the best possible position for race day - crucially ahead of his main title rivals.

Setting the second-fastest lap time in Group 2 of qualifying, the Surrey racer then produced a feisty display in his front-wheel-drive machine to secure a spot on the second row of the grid for Sunday’s opener.

Doble edged closer to championship superstardom in race one as he kept his nose clean and delivered a measured drive to snare fifth overall. That result teed the three-time race winner up to finally be crowned champion in race two.

Starting on the soft tyre, Doble proved to be one of the stars of the show as he went wheel-to-wheel with Ash Sutton and Daryl De Leon for much of the bout. Saving some tyre performance late on, Doble sealed the deal with a brilliant move past De Leon on the Grand Prix loop.

With the pressure off in race three and title celebrations already beginning, Doble closed out his campaign by taking the chequered flag in tenth.

Mikey Doble: “I’m so happy to be standing here as the Independent Drivers’ Champion. This has been the one that has eluded me in each of the past two seasons but we’ve stuck at it and now we’ve got the job done.

“Going into the weekend I felt pretty chilled and that was because we’ve worked hard all season to build up the points gap. Of course there were a few nerves on race day but they pretty much disappeared once we were racing.

“I said coming into the season that I wanted to become a multiple race winner, finish top-six in the Drivers’ Championship and win the Independents’ title. We’ve done all three and that is a testament to the entire LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing team.

“What we’ve all achieved this year is incredible, especially considering where the team was just over a year ago. To be walking away with the Drivers’ and Teams’ titles - in the manner in which we’ve done it also - is phenomenal.

“A huge thank you to everyone for their hard work and all of my loyal partners. It’s been a year to remember and we’re certainly going to celebrate this success for some time.”
