Lloyd lands points in every race so far

6th June 2022

Daniel Lloyd enjoyed a trio of strong top ten finishes as the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship visited Thruxton last weekend (28/29 May), continuing his run of scoring points in each of the nine races so far this season.

Having qualified 13th, the opening race in Hampshire saw the Bristol Street Motors with EXCELR8 TradePriceCars.com driver fight his way to eighth place, before bringing the car home ninth in the next bout.

Closely missing out on the reverse grid for race three, Lloyd concluded his weekend with another strong top ten finish as he crossed the line in seventh position, marking the third time in his BTCC career that he has scored three top ten finishes across a single race weekend.

After the visit to the UK’s fastest race circuit, the Hyundai i30N driver’s run of consecutive points scoring results now stands at 18 – the second highest tally amongst the 29 drivers on this season’s grid and he has also moved up to eighth in the championship standings.

“We’re still searching for the ultimate pace in the car,” said Lloyd. “So, in that respect it’s been another challenging weekend. However, at the same time, I’m really pleased that we have been able to recover from a tough qualifying session to score three top nine results.”

“The fact we have also moved up in the standings is a big bonus and it’s a huge positive to be scoring these kind of results at a time when we know we don’t quite have the car in the sweet spot. That leaves me confident that when things come good, it’s going to be really good, and we’ll find ourselves fighting right at the front of the pack.

“Yet again, we benefitted from some good coverage on the TV to promote my sponsors like 247 Blinds and Abracs, and I’m looking forward to doing the same at Oulton Park, which is going to be one of the busiest weekends of the season.”d for race
