The BTCC returned from its traditional summer break for the fifth event of the year, showcasing three spectacular races plus another thrilling Qualifying race at Thruxton. The UK's fastest circuit delivered a fantastic, fast and furious bookend to the first half of the season.
As the 2026 season continues to take full flight, take a listen to the fifth instalment of Tin Top Tuesday powered by Power Maxed, which was aired earlier this week (Tuesday, 28 July).
The podcast opened with none other than Josh Cook (Speedworks Corolla Racing) as the Toyota Corolla GR Sport racer further solidified his status as the 'King of Thruxton', taking the fastest time in Qualifying, pole position after finishing first in the 'Race to Pole', and taking victory in the first race of the weekend. Cook now has 11 victories at the Hampshire venue, extending his ever-impressive record.
Nick Halstead (Steal Seel with Power Maxed Racing) was the next guest on the show, speaking ahead of his return to the championship after 307 days away from competing in the UK's premier motorsport series. After Halstead's time away, his entry into the 2026 campaign sees Power Maxed Racing become a four-car outfit for the first time in its history.
Alan Hyde also caught up with Matt James (Editor, Motorsport News), reviewing the season at the halfway stage. Lewis Gilbert (WSR) also joined the show as the BMW driver spoke on his debut BTCC weekend, whilst immediately pre-empting travelling straight to his home event at Knockhill in a week's time. Gilbert and the rest of the 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship grid head to the Scottish venue of Knockhill (8/9 August) for the sixth race weekend of the campaign.
