As it’s the final full week before Christmas we’re taking one last look at the 2024 Champions throughout the week, beginning with Jack Sears Trophy (JST) winner Mikey Doble.
Doble, who finished second in 2023, put on a devastating show of speed throughout the season as the #88 would win half of all races. The second year BTCC driver did not lift at any point with his second place finish in the opening weekend kick-starting a 19-round podium streak.
Oulton Park was the scene of a standout weekend for the Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing driver. Not only did the #88 win all three races in the JST, but the final bout of the day also saw the Caterham-born racer lead every lap overall bar the last. Exchanging positions for the overall lead of the race, he would fight wheel-to-wheel with eventual 2024 Drivers’ Champion Jake Hill in an epic battle, seeing him miss out on a maiden BTCC victory by just 0.749 seconds.
In the end, Doble would stand on the JST rostrum a total of 26 times over the 30 race season, finishing fourth on one occasion and having three non-finishes. An impressive sophomore season for Doble saw him add his name to a list of which the likes of Ash Sutton, Dan Cammish, Josh Cook and many more have placed their name before.
