Team Vertu's Tom Ingram and Tom Chilton fired out an early warning in the opening 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship practice session at Donington Park as the Hyundai duo topped the times.
Ingram and his #80 machine almost proved to be in a league of their own as the 2022 champion set a lap time more than half a second faster than the rest of the field.
"Yeah, good," said Ingram. "Obviously no big dramas from our side, the car felt pretty good. The pace is going to be another three tenths under that when it comes to qualifying.
"I don't think Ash (Sutton) was deploying boost for example and bits of pieces like that. So, the pace will be a bit quicker than that. We will just stay in our own little bubble for now and we'll be fine."
Adam Morgan made it a Team Vertu 1-2-4 in the order, as only NAPA Racing UK's Ash Sutton managed to get amongst the i30N trio.
Dan Cammish and Dan Rowbottom were fifth and sixth respectively as the Ford Focus runners also showed their prowess.
Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing's Mikey Doble was next in the order, ahead of two rookies in the shape of Charles Rainford (LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR) and James Dorlin (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA), whilst Restart Racing's Chris Smiley rounded out in top ten.
Free Practice 2 commences at 1210, before the first qualifying session of the new starts at 1510. Qualifying will be streamed LIVE here on the official ITV Sport YouTube channel.
