ICYMI: TinTop Tuesday

6th September 2023

The eighth TinTop Tuesday episode of the season aired last Tuesday (29 August), with pit lane commentating legend Alan Hyde chatting to a number of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship stars, after Rounds 22, 23 and 24 on the Donington Park GP layout (26/27 August).

In the jam-packed two and a half hour instalment, you can hear from Autobrite Direct with Millers' Oils' Daniel Lloyd who reflected on his race three heartbreak, after what appeared to be the Cupra Leon's maiden win was prevented by a broken drive shaft on the final lap. But beyond this, Lloyd also chatted about teammates, helmet dryers and hopes for Silverstone!

"Despite the events, the reception when I got back to the garage was incredible – I've never even seen anything like it in Touring Cars to be honest", said Lloyd. "I think there must have been about 200 people clapping as I got out of the truck and lots of tears! So I just want to say a massive thank you for the support and all those who have reached out online, seeing all the positive comments has lifted my head back up."

On the back of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK's success at Donington, with Ricky Collard qualifying in third and Rory Butcher's first win of the season, Hyde also caught-up with Team Principal Christian Dick.

"It was an amazing weekend for us. We've obviously made some changes, including more growth over the winter to three cars, a change of engine etc. and slowly but surely we are getting back to the front where we belong," said Dick. "This weekend was a really strong performance from the whole team and was a massive boost for everybody who have been putting all the hard work in."

Tom Ingram (BRISTOL STREET MOTORS with EXCELR8) also featured, chatting about everything from holidays in Scotland, to the importance of support networks, to cross-stitch! While CarStore Power Maxed Racing's Aron Taylor-Smith (on the back of his first podium in seven years) and a final segment highlighting some of the figures behind the scenes at the BTCC rounded out the final hour.
