The new-for-2026 community initiative, Driven by Sport presented by Kwik Fit, continued its successful inaugural year with an engaging and inspiring event at Thruxton Circuit last month.
Held in the school holidays for the first time, the event offered a fresh BTCC-inspired experience, with local children attending alongside their parents and a number of competition winners securing places through the BTCC website and social media channels.
Guests once again enjoyed a broad range of STEM-led and interactive activities, each offering an engaging insight into the many roles and career opportunities available across motorsport.
These included engineering, first aid, car design, tyre technology, television presenting and, of course, the ever-popular sim racing experience. Furthermore, it wasn’t just the kids joining in with the fun this time around as the parents took on the challenges too, making for an unforgettable family experience for those in attendance.
Attendees also had the opportunity to meet BTCC driver Dan Rowbottom, get close to the championship’s racing cars and enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at life inside the BTCC paddock. In particular, guests got to speak to Power Maxed Racing driver Mikey Doble and his team in their garage, with the opportunity to apply ‘Driven by Sport’ stickers to one of the cars seen across the world all weekend.
The hands-on career discovery programme for school-age students combines education and entertainment through immersive, motorsport-themed experiences delivered by industry professionals, showcasing the many pathways into the sport.
The Thruxton event formed part of a growing programme of community-focused activities organised by the BTCC, including school and hospital visits, charitable events and further Driven by Sport experiences.
By welcoming parents and the wider BTCC community on this occasion, the programme – presented by BTCC Title Partner Kwik Fit – was able to introduce an even broader audience to the diverse skills and careers that contribute to the success of the championship.
