Dexter's Day at Brands Hatch: A Double Celebration

The 2026 TOCA Night of Champions at Silverstone in November will celebrate the standout moments from this year's Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, with the Fans' Choice Award once again giving you the opportunity to decide which achievement deserves recognition.

This year, five unforgettable moments are in contention, from emotional triumphs and long-awaited victories to breakthrough podiums and landmark wins. Today, we're looking back at Dexter Patterson's memorable season finale at Brands Hatch, where the Scotsman claimed his maiden overall BTCC podium before lifting the Jack Sears Trophy.

Steel Seal with Power Maxed Racing's Dexter Patterson rounded off his 2026 campaign in style, securing a career-best third-place finish in the final race of the season around the 2.43-mile Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.

The young Scotsman had already enjoyed a breakthrough campaign behind the wheel of his Audi A3 Saloon, securing the Jack Sears Trophy title at Silverstone two weeks earlier to claim his first championship crown in the BTCC.

Patterson arrived at the Kent venue looking to finish the season on a high, recording a pair of ninth-place finishes in Sunday's opening two encounters.

Those results would prove significant, as the reverse-grid draw placed the #17 Audi on pole position for the final race of the 2026 campaign, presenting Patterson with an opportunity to challenge for his first outright podium.

Team VERTU's Ricky Collard made the better start, moving into the lead on the opening lap before an incident involving teammates Tom Ingram and Tom Chilton brought out the Safety Car.

Once racing resumed, Patterson remained firmly in contention at the front of the field, battling with NAPA Racing UK's Dan Cammish and Ash Sutton as the leading pack fought for the rostrum.

Collard continued to lead the way, whilst Sutton's pursuit of the Hyundai driver saw the five-time champion off the circuit at Westfields, dropping down the order before recovering to challenge at the front once again.

Patterson maintained his position amongst the frontrunners throughout the 18-lap encounter, eventually taking the chequered flag in fourth.

However, a five-second post-race penalty for Collard following a Safety Car restart infringement promoted Cammish to victory, Sutton to second and Patterson to third, securing the Scotsman's first-ever overall BTCC podium.

The result marked a significant milestone for the Steel Seal with Power Maxed Racing driver, who had previously enjoyed success in the Jack Sears Trophy but had yet to stand on the outright BTCC rostrum.

The celebrations didn't end there, as Patterson went on to lift the 2026 Jack Sears Trophy, having secured the title at the penultimate event of the campaign.

It was also a memorable weekend for the wider Power Maxed Racing operation, with Patterson raising one of three championship trophies that the Audi racing squad took home.

A maiden overall podium, a first BTCC championship title and a memorable end to the season ensured Patterson's Brands Hatch finale earned him a nomination for the 2026 Fans' Choice Award.
