BMW headed into the 2022 campaign with a number of new rivals in the championship battle, initially losing out to the likes of EXCELR8 Motorsport/Hyundai and Motorbase Performance/Ford, but the Bavarian marque soon elevated its position in the title fight.

Having risen to the top of the Manufacturers'/Constructors' Standings prior to the annual mid-summer break, BMW would remain there to the conclusion of the campaign to seal the victory.
