BTCC battles go down to the wire at Brands Hatch

Independent titles and fight for second set to be decided at season finale

The 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship heads to Brands Hatch this weekend (10/11 October), with the legendary Grand Prix Circuit hosting Rounds 28, 29 and 30 as another memorable campaign reaches its conclusion.

Aiden Moffat (LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing – Audi), Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK – Ford) and Tom Ingram (Team VERTU – Hyundai) shared the victories last time out at Silverstone, with Sutton’s success in the second contest securing a record-breaking fifth BTCC Drivers’ title.

Alliance Racing/Ford and NAPA Racing UK also wrapped up the Manufacturers’/Constructors’ and Teams’ Championships respectively at the Northamptonshire venue, while Dexter Patterson (Steel Seal with Power Maxed Racing – Audi) secured the Jack Sears Trophy.

There remains plenty to be decided, however, with just five points separating Ingram and Dan Cammish (NAPA Racing UK – Ford) in the fight for second in the Drivers’ standings, while both Independent championships remain very much up for grabs.

All to play for

Reigning champion Ingram heads into the season finale sitting second in the Drivers’ standings on 336 points, just five clear of Cammish following a Silverstone weekend in which the Team VERTU star overturned an eight-point deficit to his rival.

Brands Hatch provides a fitting location for their latest battle, with both drivers having stood on the top step around the Grand Prix Circuit just 12 months ago. Cammish claimed the opening contest of the 2025 season finale before Ingram took victory in Race 2, a result that secured the latter his second BTCC Drivers’ crown. Josh Cook (Speedworks Corolla Racing – Toyota) then completed the weekend with victory in the final race of the year.

Ingram has already enjoyed success at Brands Hatch this season too, taking his first victory of the campaign around the shorter Indy layout back in May, while Sutton and Árón Taylor-Smith (Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport – Toyota) also took a win apiece.

The Independent Drivers’ Championship is also finely balanced, although Mikey Doble (LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing – Audi) remains the man to beat. Doble takes a 25-point advantage over Gordon Shedden (Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport – Toyota) into the weekend, having strengthened his position with ‘Race to Pole’ honours and a podium finish at Silverstone.

Charles Rainford (WSR – BMW) sits just three points further back on 345, while Moffat and Daryl De Leon (WSR – BMW) remain firmly in contention on 332 and 330 points respectively. Five drivers therefore arrive at the finale covered by just 43 points.

There is a similarly close fight in the Independent Teams’ Championship, where LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing leads the way. Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport sits 33 points behind, with WSR just a single point further back, ensuring all three squads remain in contention heading into the final event.

At 2.43 miles and ten corners, the Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit has regularly provided the setting for pivotal moments in the closing stages of the championship. Rainford holds the current Qualifying benchmark following his 1m28.919s effort in 2025, while Ingram’s 1m29.596s lap from the same year remains the race record.

With Sutton ready to celebrate an unprecedented fifth title and several other battles still to be settled, three final races around one of British motorsport’s most iconic circuits will bring the curtain down on the 2026 season.

TV, Timetables and Tickets

Complementing the tin top racing will be another packed support programme, with the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain, Porsche Sprint Challenge Great Britain, Wera Tools F4 British Championship certified by FIA, MINI CHALLENGE and the Caterham Seven Championship UK all in action across the weekend.

Saturday's qualifying sessions and 'Race to Pole' will be streamed live via ITV Sport's YouTube Channel from 1350, with the Qualifying Race getting underway at 1450. ITV4 and ITVX then take over on Sunday from 1030 for more than seven-and-a-half hours of live coverage.

Continuing the championship's expanded global coverage, Sunday's action will also be streamed live via the BTCC YouTube Channel outside the UK and North America, while fans in the United States and Canada can follow the action on the RACER Network. The three BTCC races are scheduled for 1125, 1435 and 1715 (BST).

There's no place like being there, of course, and fans can purchase tickets online in advance or throughout the weekend – visit here for more details.
