Triple BTCC Champion Ash Sutton added yet another accolade to his illustrious motorsport CV this past weekend, as the 28-year-old was crowned Autosport’s National Driver of the Year during the annual Autosport Awards on Sunday (6 February).
With nominees including BTCC rival Josh Cook and now team-mate Dan Cammish, Sutton joined the ranks of fellow tin-top icons including Jason Plato, Gordon Shedden and Colin Turkington after being voted by Autosport readers as the best National driver of the 2021 season.
“I’m super proud to have won this award,” said Sutton. “It’s come as a bit of a shock [but] ultimately, it’s an honour to be standing here with the people in this room. And, obviously, with the people I went up against for the award, it’s a privilege to receive it.”
