Australian V8 Supercars driver, Alex Rullo, spent the day with Power Maxed Racing at Brands Hatch yesterday (Thursday 23rd November).
The 17-year-old Australian made the flight over with his family as he considers making the commute to the UK for the 2018 BTCC season, and wanted to test drive one of the rapidly-developing Astras as part of his decision-making process.
Rullo was joined on-track by the BMW of double champion Colin Turkington, providing the young-gun with a high-level benchmark on which to focus on.
"I've got a lot to do now – the BTCC is a real contender for me," said Rullo. "We need to go home and speak to our sponsors and see if they want to come on this journey with us. I really hope they do."
"The weather in the morning wasn’t great but fortunately the Astras are front wheel drive," commented Adam Weaver, Team Principal of Power Maxed Racing. "Soon after though, it cleared up and led to a very interesting day of testing and talking."
"He approached the day with a very mature and professional manner, successfully and quickly adapting his driving style to a FWD BTCC car," concluded Martin Broadhurst, Race Team Manager for Power Maxed Racing. "With the dry running in the afternoon he was quickly on the pace with very consistent lap times and great feedback for his experience. He did a very good job on the day."
