Driver Spotlight: Nick Halstead

1st December 2023

Halstead was a relative latecomer to racing, making his debut in 2017 he quickly made a name for himself, finishing third in the AM category of the Ginetta GT5 Challenge in the AM category. In just his second season, Halstead would march to a commanding victory in the same category in 2018.

2019 would see Halstead compete in a multitude of Championships including: Renault Clio Cup UK, Britcar Endurance Championship, TCR UK and once again the Ginetta GT5 Challenge.

Switching to a more consistent campaign for 2020, Halstead became a regular on the BTCC support package in the Ginetta GT4 Supercup, scoring 16 podiums – including five wins – in his debut year alone, and then entered the British GT Championship in the GT4 Pro/Am class in 2020, ending the year as Vice Champion.

In 2021, Halstead made his Championship debut, after Rick Parfitt Jr was unable to take part at Croft. Halstead would then switch up his racing career again in 2022 season, competing in the British GT Championship alongside a season in the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup in the G55 Pro category. The season would prove successful for the Kent born driver, with a notable victory at the Spa 2-Hour.

In 2023, he embarked on his first full season in the British Touring Car Championship with defending champions BRISTOL STREET MOTORS with EXCELR8. Getting to grips with the Hyundai i30 Fastback N Performance, Halstead announced his entrance from the get-go, reaching a season high of seventh on the opening day at Donington.

Aside from providing action on-track, Halstead was a lead creative thinker behind Crazy Carts, which gave fans the chance to witness their favourite drivers compete outside the confines of their BTCC machinery.
