OPTIMISM AT BRANDS HATCH FOR HALFORDS RACING WITH CATACLEAN

25th June 2021

Halfords Racing with Cataclean is moving on from a mixed weekend at Snetterton with the hope to bounce back at Brands Hatch this weekend, during the upcoming rounds of the 2021 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship.

A happy hunting ground for the squad, Brands Hatch’s Indy circuit has hosted numerous podium finishes for the Team Dynamics-run outfit, including nine victories during the past decade.

The squad also holds the current lap record on the 1.2-mile track, with Matt Neal having taken the accolade back in 2011.

With Dan Rowbottom leading the Jack Sears Trophy, the Kidderminster racer will be aiming to increase his advantage in the fight for JST glory, while team-mate Gordon Shedden is keen to move forward from a topsy-turvy weekend last time out and enjoy a circuit where he has done well previously.

While limited fans will be in attendance trackside, ITV3 will play host to Sunday’s race day coverage for this weekend, with more than seven hours of action due to be broadcast from 1100-1825.

“Snetterton didn’t work out as planned for us,” reflected Team Manager James Rogers. “We had the pace in the car, but it is such a difficult track to overtake on.  We still came away with some decent points and our focus now is very much on maximising our performance at Brands Hatch this weekend.”

“I’m really looking forward to Brands, it’s another circuit I really enjoy driving,” added Rowbottom. “My focus this weekend is to continue to score strong points in the Jack Sears Trophy to keep me atop of that table, whilst also trying to improve my individual and our team’s places.”

“Snetterton is forgotten as far I’m concerned,” concluded Shedden. “We finished on a high, so let’s draw a line under it and move on! It’s great to be back at Brands, I last raced here in 2017 and it has fond memories for me as I won my back-to-back titles in 2015 and 2016 here. I like the track, it’s old school, but it promotes great racing and great viewing for the public as well, so bring it on!”
