In today's BTCC Summer Series, we're recapping a landmark moment in UK motor sport as the country's premier series introduced mandatory breath testing of drivers and championship officials on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. All test subjects had to, and did, produce a zero test result to be allowed to participate in the event, and this 'driver scrutineering' will now take place at every BTCC race meeting.
In partnership with Alcosense Breathalysers, the BTCC became the first championship in the world to implement this kind of safety policy, and in this video Series Director Alan Gow talks to ITV Sport about the thinking behind this unprecedented move.
