Goff returns with RCIB Insurance Racing

30th January 2014

Jack Goff is the latest driver to be confirmed for the 2014 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship – he returns with the RCIB Insurance Racing squad to drive the Vauxhall Insignia for a second full season.

His 2013 debut campaign showed great promise, and with some strong qualifying results coming early in the season it was clear to see that the 2012 Renault Clio Cup champion had potential behind the wheel of a BTCC car. This potential was realised in the final round of 2013, as Goff went bumper-to-bumper with outgoing champion Gordon Shedden in a thrilling battle for the last victory of the season.

“The last race of the season has certainly helped me over the winter,” he told btcc.net. “I’m lucky in that my sponsors have stuck with me over the last few years – RCIB Insurance, HSL, and all the other guys make this possible, so it’s great to be out there fighting for them again.”

In addition to the main team sponsor, Jack continues to be supported since his first drive in the Renault Clio Cup by a host of companies in the entertainment technology industry – including HSL and AC-ET among others.

Although the 22-year-old had to give best to the Honda driver at Brands Hatch, his consummate driving in treacherous conditions gave him second place and a first podium in the BTCC – much to the delight of Jack’s ever-growing contingent of fans.

With backing from his key sponsors confirmed for a season-long campaign, the driver from High Wycombe is planning to put a year of learning to good use. Armed with a car that has for the first time had significant development and updates over the winter, Goff is aiming to repeat his podium success and go one better for the RCIB Insurance Racing squad in 2014.

“It’s brilliant to have a second year,” Goff continued. “We had no testing or development last year, so with every race meeting I was learning the car and the team was learning the set-up, but we had good speed even if we couldn’t show it in all the races.

“We’ve brought in some new personnel to the team as well which should really help with the car. It’s going to be tough at the front of the field without a doubt, but there’s no reason why we can’t be fighting for podiums from the word go, and hopefully snatch that first win when we can.”
