Celebrate with MG during 100th race weekend

5th June 2015

MG Triple Eight Racing’s Andrew Jordan and Jack Goff are confident of continuing their consistent start to the season in the fourth round of the 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) at Oulton Park this weekend (6-7 June).

In what is a milestone weekend for the reigning manufacturer/constructer champions, race one will see MG celebrate their 100th race since returning to Britain’s premier race series in 2012.

Uniquely for this event, fans who signs up for the MG Newsletter and receives a goody bag will find an exclusive eight page commemorative booklet charting our journey over the last three and a half years along with two exclusive posters. These will only be available this Oulton Park Race Weekend. In addition, ten lucky individuals will find that their MG Goody bag contains a ‘Platinum ticket’ numbered 1-10. During the Drivers appearance at the MG trade stand at 1.30pm on Sunday, they will draw the tickets and match them to prizes that will include: 2 tickets to the Jack Goff ball, 2 VIP tickets to Brands Hatch finale as our guests, 2 x tickets to the race of the winner’s choice, signed photographs and merchandise

Over the past three years, the Triple Eight-run MG6 GT has enjoyed a strong set of results at the Cheshire circuit, taking the qualifying and race lap records in 2013 on the way to pole position and a brace of victories.

Off the back of achieving a second podium of the current campaign for the factory-supported outfit, 2013 champion Andrew Jordan heads to the Tarporley-based circuit with fond memories; having taken a first-ever BTCC podium in 2008 and a solitary victory on the road to championship glory two years ago.

Sitting fifth in the point’s standings, the Red Bull athlete will carry 39kgs of success ballast into qualifying and the opening encounter. Firmly focused on remaining in the title picture, the 26-year-old is optimistic that work during the short-break will come to fruition around the 2.69 mile Island configuration.

Meanwhile, 24-year-old Jack Goff is targeting a return to the rostrum after taking a second career-podium finish at Brands Hatch in April. Another solid performance by the High Wycombe-based racer will keep him within touching distance of the championship hunt as the series heads towards the halfway point.

Live coverage of Sunday’s events will be shown on ITV4, itv.com and also in HD from 11:15 to 13:30, before a short break to accommodate coverage of the Men’s French Open final. Track action from Oulton Park will continue on ITV4 from 15:15 to 18:30.

Andrew Jordan said: “I’m looking forward to the weekend! Since Thruxton I have spent a lot of time working with my engineer to unlock more performance and it has been really positive. The MG has traditionally been well suited to Oulton Park in the past but everything has moved on in the last year. I’m confident that we can roll out in practice with a strong car and hopefully challenge towards the front in qualifying. Of course I want to win races but I'm not going to get desperate because I don't need to be – we will take it one race at a time. I love Oulton Park too, it is a really old school circuit that has been unchanged and there are lots of elevation changes through the trees, which gives a real sense of speed. There is always a huge crowd that attends and the atmosphere is great. Whenever we do track walks the campsites are full and the BBQ’s are all set up, it feels like a real party, which is brilliant.”

Jack Goff said:  “To be part of the team and celebrate MG’s 100th race this weekend is quite an achievement and hopefully both I and Andrew can achieve some good results for everyone to celebrate. Down the years Triple Eight have been quick around Oulton Park, despite it slightly favouring rear-wheel-drive cars recently. We performed well at Thruxton and over the short break we’ve been able to look through the data and unlock some more performance. I’m heading into this weekend confident that we can challenge towards the front and get back on the podium. Everyone has moved forward in terms of performance since we last visited the circuit but so have we. I won my first every Clio Cup race around Oulton Park so it holds fond memories for me. It is a real driver’s circuit and now that we are back on the Island layout, there should be more opportunities to overtaking. There is always a big crowd that turns out to watch and we have a lot of sponsors that are from the North of the country, it is always a brilliant event.”
