For the first time in its history, the British Touring Car Championship is stepping beyond the track and onto the big screen, with the announcement of SHIFT – the first-ever feature film set within the world of BTCC.
Announced by multi-award-winning actor, writer, and filmmaker Christopher Torretto, SHIFT is not just a racing film; it’s a story of redemption, obsession, and the unbreakable connection between driver, machine and fan.
Torretto, who has long described motorsport as a personal passion, sees the project as something far bigger than cinema.
“This isn’t just about telling a story, it’s about bringing people inside a world they’ve only ever watched from the outside,” he said.
“I grew up dreaming of being on that grid. This film is about showing that journey and letting the audience feel like they’re in the driver’s seat.”
Filming is taking place across the BTCC season, embedding cameras within the paddock, the garages, and the atmosphere that makes the championship one of the most competitive and exciting motorsport spectacles in the world.
But SHIFT is also breaking new ground in how films are made.
“We’re building this with the fans,” Torretto adds.
“We want them to feel the vibration of the engines, the pressure of the moment, not as spectators, but as part of the story.
“This is more than a film. This is the BTCC, as it’s never been seen before.”
With global streaming platforms, international audiences, and motorsport communities all in its sights, SHIFT represents a bold step forward, not just for filmmaking, but for the future visibility and growth of British motorsport.
SHIFT is executive produced by sports business entrepreneur and race licence holder Elliot Stroud.
