Status quo as Sutton holds off Ingram in second bout

27th April 2025

Ash Sutton made it two out of two with victory in Round 2 of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park, as the NAPA Racing UK star held off Team Vertu's Tom Ingram.

The leading duo played the same game in the earlier curtain raiser and they were initially joined by a gaggle of contenders in the second encounter.

It was Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport's Jake Hill leading a train of cars for third place in the early running as the soft-shod Goodyear runner held firm in the #1 BMW.

Ingram's best opportunity seemed to come in the opening exchanges but Sutton defended valiantly while saving what little boost he had available, by virtue of his earlier race victory.

Hill began to fade as the hard-charging Dan Cammish was busy making his way through the pack from eighth on the grid, whilst One Motorsport's Josh Cook's initial surge was scuppered by a puncture. The switch came on the penultimate lap as Cammish's #27 Ford Focus scythed his way by at Coppice.

Sutton saved his boost until the final lap as he impressively set his fastest lap on his final tour, as the four-time champ claimed another triumph ahead of Ingram.

Cammish completed the podium ahead of Hill, whilst Dan Rowbottom and Tom Chilton completed the top six. Chilton was further rewarded post-race as he grabbed pole position in the reverse draw for today's final contest.

LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR's Aiden Moffat drove well to grab seventh, whilst Restart Racing's Chris Smiley claimed Independents success with a barn-storming three-wide move through the Craner Curves.

Dexter Patterson produced an eye-catching ninth in his ROKiT Racing with Un-Limited Motorsport Cupra, whilst Adam Morgan wowed the crowds with a charge from 24th to tenth.

The final race commences at 1725 and will be screened LIVE in the UK on ITV4, LIVE in North America via the RACER+ App and LIVE across the rest of the world via the BTCC YouTube channel.
