Aiden Moffat joins WSR for 2025 to race LKQ Euro Car Parts BMW

23rd December 2024

WSR has today (23 December) announced Aiden Moffat as the first driver for the new LKQ Euro Car Parts BMW programme in the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship.

The 28-year-old from Edinburgh will race one of two BMW 330i M Sports that will compete with LKQ Euro Car parts title-branding in what will be his 12th full season in the UK’s leading motorsport championship.

After finishing as runner-up in the Scottish Fiesta Championship (despite winning nine of the 10 races he started), Aiden made history in 2013 as he became the youngest driver in BTCC history at just 16 years, 10 months and 23 days old.

He scored the first of his 15 podium finishes on home soil at Knockhill in 2015 and the first of his five career victories at Donington Park two years later.

One of a small number of current drivers to have won BTCC races in both front-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive cars, Aiden has secured podium results in all but one of the past ten seasons.

Aiden is set to begin his testing programme in the New Year alongside fellow WSR drivers Jake Hill, the reigning BTCC champion, and Daryl DeLeon.

Aiden Moffat said: “It sounds like a cliché, but this really is a ‘dream come true’ moment for me in touring car racing. The chance to join the best team on the grid doesn’t happen often so it’s fantastic that everything’s lined up for 2025 and that we can go forwards together with the support of LKQ Euro Car Parts. Having seen from the outside how WSR operate, they just seem to do things the right way in every area and we’ve all seen how much success they’ve had as a result. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so excited or motivated for a new BTCC season and honestly I wish we could get on track right now!”

Dick Bennetts, Team Principal, said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Aiden to WSR for 2025 as part of our LKQ Euro Car Parts BMW line-up. As one of the few current BTCC drivers to have won races in front-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive cars, he should adapt to the BMW quickly and be able to challenge for strong results everywhere. It’s also interesting that he had his best BTCC Championship result in a rear-wheel-drive car in 2021. We’ve seen what he’s capable of on the racetrack – including several impressive wins – over the years. Our job now is to give him a car that will allow him to get the best out of himself as often as possible.”

Colin Cottrell, Group Marketing Director, LKQ UK & Ireland, said: “Aiden Moffat joining WSR for the 2025 BTCC season is fantastic news! Having worked in partnership with him before, we know his track record, versatility and proven skills in both front-wheel and rear-wheel-drive cars make him a perfect fit for the LKQ Euro Car Parts BMW programme. Beyond his talent on the racetrack, Aiden has been a delight to work with off track, consistently supporting and representing the LKQ brand with professionalism and enthusiasm. This partnership truly embodies the excitement and passion driving our future ambitions. The announcement of driver #2 is just around the corner – watch this space!”
