The 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship schedule has today (2 May) been announced, giving all stakeholders almost a full calendar year to plan and prepare for next season.
The 2025 campaign only got underway at Donington Park last weekend, as series organiser – TOCA – continues its trend of being one of the first major motorsport championships in the world to announce its calendar for the following season.
While the venues for 2026 repeat the recent tried and tested format, there will be a slight shake up to some of the dates, as well as a shift in the annual summer break.
Due to ITV’s commitments at the football World Cup in June and July, it has been decided to bring the break forward to avoid any potential clashes, whilst also providing teams with a less frenetic start to the BTCC season.
The campaign will again begin at the Donington Park National circuit, before visiting the Brands Hatch Indy layout and then Snetterton in May. Oulton Park will now be the fourth event of the season – albeit maintaining its traditional June slot – before the aforementioned summer break commences slightly earlier than usual.
The Thruxton race weekend has been moved to the school summer holidays in July and is the only BTCC event that month.
The second half of the season kicks off with the much-loved trip north of the border to Knockhill and then onto the fantastic Donington Park Grand Prix circuit.
Another shift in the line-up belongs to Croft, as the North Yorkshire venue gets a September date in 2026, before the penultimate event at Silverstone and the finale on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
Alan Gow, BTCC Chief Executive, said: “The 2026 British Touring Car Championship calendar enjoys the tried and tested format from previous seasons, but with a slightly different flow of events to look forward to.
“It is a very busy summer in the sporting calendar, particularly with the football World Cup, which presents ITV with some clashing commitments. However, it also gave us an opportunity to make some tweaks to the schedule, which includes the shift in dates to the likes of Thruxton and Croft.
“Once again, releasing the calendar to our teams, support races, stakeholders and the public this early is advantageous for all in forward-planning, whilst it also benefits the rest of the motorsport pyramid in the UK as they can also schedule their events with these dates in mind.”
