Team Dynamics to take hiatus from BTCC in 2023

5th April 2023

It has today (5 April) been announced that Team Dynamics will be taking a hiatus as a fully-fledged entry in the BTCC for the 2023 season but will remain active in the championship through a support agreement with ONE Motorsport.

Having been at the forefront in making Honda one of the most decorated marques in BTCC history, the team aims to still play its part in that ongoing success story, before a planned return to the entry list in the future.

“This has been an extremely difficult decision for us to make as a business,” said Team Dynamics Owner, Matt Neal. “Unfortunately, with the current economic climate, we have not been able to secure the commercial partnerships we required to commit to the forthcoming BTCC season.

“I’ve been in the BTCC all my life and it has presented us with many fantastic opportunities and memories, so I’m extremely disappointed that we will not be directly involved and saddened for our dedicated employees, partners, fans and supporters.

“However, we still want to keep the Honda brand at the forefront of racing and ultimately winning races.

“Under our tenure, the car marque became one of the most successful manufacturers in the championship, second only to Ford in just half as many years. So, we aim to put to good use our resources and developments made over the winter by supporting One Motorsport in 2023 and helping them to win races and challenge for the Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships.”

Not only will Team Dynamics be supporting One Motorsport during 2023, but the squad will continue to build its classic, touring car and GT race car business, as well as running customer vehicles in various championships in the UK and around the globe.

Whilst reflective of its time in Britain’s premier motorsport series up to this point, Neal has confirmed that he aims for Team Dynamics to be back on the BTCC grid in the future.

“We would like to thank everyone involved in the BTCC, especially Alan Gow, who has supported us over the years,” concluded Neal. “We wish all the teams and drivers, particularly One Motorsport with Neil Brown Engineering, the best of luck for the forthcoming season. We hope to actively be back in the BTCC in the future.”

The official Season Launch for the 2023 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship takes place at Brands Hatch on 12 April, before the opening rounds of the new season commence at Donington Park at the end of the month.
