NAPA Racing UK man stars at Snetterton
Dan Cammish continued his stellar 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship qualifying form as he snatched his second pole position of the season with a stunning lap at Snetterton (24 May).
The NAPA Racing UK star took top spot at the Donington Park season opener, before bagging a starting berth of fifth at Brands Hatch last time out, and now the #27 Ford Focus has returned to the summit of the timesheets at Snetterton with a blistering lap that smashed the existing qualifying record.
The biggest shocks in the opening segment of qualifying belonged to BMW with Brands Hatch race winners – Jake Hill (Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport – BMW) and Daryl DeLeon (WSR – BMW) – being sent tumbling out of contention, as was WSR stablemate Aiden Moffat (LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR – BMW).
Young gun DeLeon and multiple race winner Moffat simply couldn’t find the pace in their respective groups, whilst reigning champion Hill locked up through Brundle before running off-track on the exit of Nelson as he too struggled to find the ultimate speed.
Hill will start tomorrow's opener from 20th on the grid as the BMWs failed to replicate their Brands Hatch performance, but the #1 will likely be one to watch tomorrow as Hill attempts to surge his way to the front of the pack.
The fourth and final BMW of Charles Rainford was knocked out in the second segment, as were the cars of Daniel Lloyd (Restart Racing – Hyundai), Josh Cook (One Motorsport – Honda), Tom Chilton (Team VERTU – Hyundai), James Dorlin (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA) and Chris Smiley (Restart Racing – Hyundai).
The stage was set for the ‘Quick Six’ finale as Team VERTU’s Tom Ingram became the first driver to dip into the 1:53s bracket, having already set several previous laps quicker than his rivals.
Cammish immediately responded to snatch pole by just 0.030s as Ingram had to settle for second, but there was late drama as the Ford Focus of Ash Sutton ground to a halt on the Bentley Straight.
Sutton was left languishing in sixth as Dan Rowbottom (NAPA Racing UK – Ford) grabbed third ahead of Mikey Doble (Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing – Vauxhall) and Adam Morgan (Team VERTU – Hyundai).
The 1:53.750s lap time set by Cammish was more than seven tenths of a second faster than Sutton's previous benchmark from 2023, setting up an exciting day of racing at Snetterton tomorrow.
Rounds 7, 8 and 9 of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship will take place on the 2.97-layout with dry conditions expected at the Norfolk venue on Sunday. ITV4’s seven-and-a-half-hour race day broadcast gets underway at 1045, and remember, for the first time in the championship’s history the BTCC is also being broadcast globally – see the BTCC's TV page for full information.
Dan Cammish, NAPA Racing UK, said: "This one means the world to me, fantastic! After last week, there's not a better way to bounce back. We've got a fantastic car, an amazing team and group of people around me, but I'm proud of myself for putting last week behind me and coming out swinging today when it mattered.
"The Q3 time was quite a lot faster than my Q2 and I thought that I must've been in a class of my own, but then I saw how close we were to Tom (Ingram). I'm really proud of this one and tomorrow we will have a good fight on our hands."
