TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA's Gordon Shedden claimed victory in the final Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship race at Oulton Park, bringing down the curtain on a brilliant first half to the season.
Such has been the competitiveness and unrivalled drama in the BTCC during 2025 so far that three-time champion Shedden became the tenth different race winner – from only 15 races.
Shedden led from lights to flag but that doesn't tell the true story of an incredible initial attack, followed by a fantastic defensive drive, as the tin top legend grabbed his first BTCC win since 2022.
The Scotsman fought off Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport's Jake Hill for much of the race, closely followed by the NAPA Racing UK pair of Dan Rowbottom and Ash Sutton, but Shedden's pressure eased slightly in the closing moments.
With Hill making a last ditch effort to make a move on the penultimate lap, his #1 BMW 330i M Sport squirmed and slid wide on the wet surface at Cascades and he eventually returned to the track down in seventh after running through the grass.
Sutton had only recently disposed of teammate Rowbottom, and he was further rewarded with second after Hill's moment.
Rowbottom rounded out a topsy-turvy weekend with a well deserved podium, whilst Team VERTU's Tom Ingram fought his way up to fourth, having been down in 12th at one stage.
Team VERTU's Senna Proctor and NAPA Racing UK's Dan Cammish were fifth and sixth respectively, with the latter having been shuffled out of podium contention earlier in the contest.
Hill had to make do with seventh, ahead of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA's James Dorlin, whilst Charles Rainford (LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR) and Sam Osborne (NAPA Racing UK) rounded out the top ten. Rainford in particular had a fantastic race, having stormed through from the back of the grid to ninth.
