Rowbottom rallies to win race two

25th May 2025

NAPA Racing UK's Dan Rowbottom claimed his first Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship victory of the season – the third of his career – as he fended off a number of challengers in race two at Snetterton.

The three Goodyear hard tyre runners – Dan Cammish (NAPA Racing UK), Tom Ingram (Team VERTU) and Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK) – all made good getaways, but it wasn't long before they had the soft-shod runners reeling them in.

Pole-sitter Cammish had already been relegated to third by Sutton and Ingram, and he was further shuffled down to eighth by the end of the opening lap, whilst the other two front-runners initially held on.

Rowbottom enjoyed a few blessings along the way, which included Sutton not making things too difficult for his team-mate to get by, but the biggest moment took place when Ingram ran wildly wide through Riches and made contact with the barrier while trying to correct the car.

Now in the lead, Rowbottom's race was about to get even tougher as a quartet of Hyundais – Daniel Lloyd (Restart Racing), Adam Morgan (Team VERTU), Tom Chilton (Team VERTU) and Chris Smiley (Restart Racing) – swarmed in.

Lloyd made his move and looked to have cemented P1 as he sliced his #132 machine by Rowbottom's Ford Focus, but the latter almost immediately fought back to retake the lead.

Morgan – with additional TOCA Turbo Boost available – then made light work of Lloyd and he set about hauling in Rowbottom's Ford ahead of him.

A two-lap showdown took place as Morgan attacked while Rowbottom used every inch of track to defend his position, which he duly did until the chequered flag fell.

There was one final move as Chilton completed the podium to make it a double for Team VERTU - the only squad to finish on the podium in each and every BTCC race so far this season.

Restart Racing were rewarded with fourth and fifth for Lloyd and Smiley, whilst Mikey Doble (Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing) and Josh Cook (One Motorsport) were next in the order.

Sam Osborne (NAPA Racing UK), Charles Rainford (LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR) and Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK) completed the top ten positions.
