A stunning victory for Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS' Tom Ingram in the second Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship race at Brands Hatch has cut the deficit to standings leader Jake Hill to just one point, with one final race of this incredible season remaining.
A blistering opening lap for the 2022 Champion saw Ingram's #80 Hyundai blast past Colin Turkington's BMW around the outside at Hawthorns, before he then scythed down the inside of title rival Hill at Paddock Hill Bend on the second tour.
Whilst the result may not have been a surprise, the speed in which Ingram moved from third to first was jaw-dropping. He also scooped the fastest lap to move to within one point of Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport's Hill with one race of this unforgettable season remaining.
In what is set to be one of closest championship battles in BTCC history we are left wondering whether it will be a maiden title for Hill or will Ingram reclaim the crown? All will be revealed in just a few hours...
"Wow, amazing, what can I say... it's on!" enthused Ingram. "I was so pumped for that, honestly this car is so good - it's an absolute pleasure."
"We're still there," responded Hill. "One point now isn't it, oh god! We are in for one thrilling last round aren't we!"
The NAPA Racing UK duo of Dan Cammish and Ash Sutton enjoyed a good battle for fourth and fifth, with both now embroiled in a three-way tussle for third in the standings with Turkington – just ten points blanket the trio going into the finale.
Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing's Árón Taylor-Smith was sixth, ahead of a resurgent Josh Cook in the LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ Toyota. Cook will start the final race from pole position by virtue of the reverse grid draw.
Aiden Moffat (LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ), Tom Chilton (Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS) and an impressive Sam Osborne (NAPA Racing UK) rounded out the top ten.
The 30th and final round of the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship will take place at 1735 with the entire race day being broadcast LIVE on ITV4 and the race itself being streamed via the ITV Sport TikTok channel.
