MOTORBASE ENJOYS PRODUCTIVE HYBRID INSTALLATION TEST

1st April 2022

Following a successful first full-team run of its hybrid-powered Ford Focus ST cars, series returnee Dan Cammish emerged as the quickest of Motorbase Performance’s four drivers during the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship’s first Hybrid Installation Test at Donington Park this week (Tuesday 29 March).

Piloting the #9 NAPA Racing UK machine, reigning Porsche Carrera Cup GB Champion Cammish ended the first official test fourth fastest, and as the driver who completed the highest number of laps within the Wrotham-based squad, with 76 tours under his belt throughout the day.

NAPA Racing UK team-mate Ash Sutton, last year’s BTCC Champion, had a similarly productive day on the Leicestershire circuit, as he continues to adapt to his front-wheel drive machinery.

Having revealed their freshly liveried Apec Racing with Beavis Morgan Fords before they hit the 1.98-mile track, Ollie Jackson and Sam Osborne racked up more than 100 laps between the pair, as they continued their pre-season testing programme.

Marking the first collective test for the two outfits ahead of the new campaign, the outing proved fruitful for Motorbase with the team completing nearly 500 miles of testing throughout the day. The squad now prepares to head north to Croft Circuit for the second Hybrid Installation Test, on 6 April, before the series’ annual Season Launch at Thruxton just one week later (13 April).

“Donington went really well,” said Team Manager Oly Collins. “We got a good number of laps under our belts in both qualifying and race trim, and learned a lot about the new cars for this season.

“To have all four cars in full 2022 spec and successfully running hybrid this early is a great achievement for the team, and a credit to the people behind the scenes at Motorbase. Ash and Dan have settled in so well and are clearly a great asset to the team, along with the continuity of Ollie and Sam. There’s a really exciting buzz around the team this year.”
