Restart Racing's Daniel Lloyd took home a mesmerising victory in Round 25 of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, as the Huddersfield racer celebrated his first triumph in 1,078 days in sensational style.
The contest saw the now Independent Trophy leader start from fourth place, initially jumping reigning champion Jake Hill (Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport) on the opening lap as the field charged towards the first corner.
Ahead of the duo, polesitter Daryl DeLeon (WSR) and Gordon Shedden (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA) finished the opening lap side-by-side in a thrilling wheel-to-wheel battle, with the former running wide at Copse and tumbling to fifth by the time the leading pack found the Wellington Straight.
With Shedden heading the field, Lloyd wasted no time as the #123 made his decisive move to the front, brilliantly placing his Hyundai i30 N down the inside of the Corolla GR Sport into Brooklands on only the second lap of the race.
Come lap five, Hill took his chance to move further forward, pulling alongside Shedden heading into the daunting Copse corner and securing second entering the braking zone into Maggots. The podium positions would remain unchanged as on Lap 18, Nic Hamilton's (Powder Monkey Brewing Co with Esidock) car caught fire and was parked off the circuit on the Wellington Straight, prompting a Safety Car intervention.
Senna Proctor (Team VERTU) crossed the line in fourth place, jumping the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA car of Josh Cook, with the latter finishing the race in the position he started. Aiden Moffat (LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR) would also make two positions from where he began, as did Proctor, to come home in sixth place.
Behind, the title fight took centre stage after championship leader Tom Ingram (Team VERTU) started a row behind his nearest rival Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK), starting 14th and 12th respectively in what promised to be a thrilling scrap through the field. The duo would spend many a lap battling side-by-side in classic BTCC fashion.
After making early progress through the pack, Ingram would eventually pass his title rival for ninth on the fourth lap of the 25-lap bout. Continuing to scythe through the field with ruthless efficiency, the collective five championships would close the race with Ingram in seventh and Sutton right behind in eighth. The gap between the top two in the standings now sits at 33 points with only five races remaining in the title battle.
Behind were teammates of the two title protagonists, with Daniel Rowbottom (NAPA Racing UK) finishing in ninth place, closing the gap to 13 points to Dan Cammish (NAPA Racing UK) for third in the drivers' standings. Rounding out the top ten was Team VERTU's Adam Morgan, progressing from his 13th place starting position in another fine drive through the field.
Round 26 of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship takes place at 1440 and is set to be a cracker with the title battle growing in tension as the momentum swings one way and then the other... catch all the action LIVE on ITV4.
