Jordan satisfied with strong Silverstone showing

30th September 2014

Reigning Dunlop MSA British Touring Car champion Andrew Jordan is now mathematically unable of retaining the crown, but the Pirtek Racing driver was upbeat after making good progress throughout the Silverstone race weekend (27-28 September).

The short blast of the Silverstone National Circuit has historically been a tough challenge for the Honda package, but Jordan made significant progress throughout practice, qualifying and the three races.

“I’m really happy with my job and the job the team has done this weekend," said Andrew. “We weren’t quite where we needed to be with the car yesterday with the set-up but we’ve worked at it throughout all three races today and the car was very good at the end.

“It was probably as good as we could have made it and that was what I wanted to come away with – regardless of where we finished I just wanted to be at our best.”

Silverstone always manages to produce some spectacular action, and Jordan was one of five former champions embroiled in an epic scrap for third place in the final race of the day.

“It was nice to get stuck in to some battles – it was good hard touring car racing, there was even some bump-drafting going down the Wellington Straight between Menu and Plato!”

The 25-year-old enjoyed an amazing battle at Silverstone in 2013 too, but where he was fighting for the championship last time, he’s now unable to catch the eBay Motors BMW of Colin Turkington which holds top spot in the table. With the pressure off, Jordan is going to Brands Hatch hoping to challenge at the front, and concluded:

“We knew coming into the weekend it would be tough, but we’ve done ourselves and our sponsors proud. I’m looking forward to Brands Hatch now – not just aiming for results this year but also playing the long game in terms of what we can learn going into 2015.

“I want to be challenging for pole and wins on the day – there’s no pressure on me at all so it should be a good weekend.”
