Jordan edging closer to maiden MG win

15th June 2015

Former BTCC champion Andrew Jordan is seemingly edging closer to his maiden win for MG Triple Eight Racing after a series of consistent displays in the opening rounds of the 2015 season.

The Lichfield racer had a tough start to the campaign at Brands Hatch in the MG6 but was still able to score two solid top seven finishes. Since then the 25-year-old has taken top four results aplenty.

Never outside of the top quartet at Donington Park, which included his first podium, was then followed by a second rostrum at Thruxton in April. Oulton Park marked his best weekend so far where he claimed a fourth, a third and a second, suggesting his first win for the Triple Eight MG team isn’t too far away.

“Looking at the weekend, a fourth, third and second is a decent set of results, and it gives us a nice boost as we go to Croft,” he said. “I needed this result, the team needed it too. I’m feeling very positive about where we are with the car, and I’d like to say a big ‘well done’ to all the Triple Eight MG guys.”

Such consistency sees Jordan sitting just 13 points off the championship summit and with a car that seems to be improving race by race.

“We have a quicker package now to go with the great consistency we’ve already had this year,” he warns ahead of next week’s trip to the North East.

Jordan’s team-mate Jack Goff has also shown well in his first season with the manufacturer squad and is far from being out of the title running. Solid top ten finishes have been the making of his year so far but he’ll need to make a return to the rostrum to maintain his challenge.

Goff’s qualifying performances have included a sixth, seventh and an eighth but he’s yet to break into the first two rows, something he realises could be key next time around.

“We came away with another three top-ten finishes, which is good for the championship,” said Jack. “We just need to make sure we nail qualifying at Croft and give ourselves the best chance in the races.”

MG Triple Eight Racing and the rest of the huge BTCC field – including a series debut for Nic Hamilton – will be roaring into Croft over the weekend of 27/28 June.
