As the mid-season break continues, our celebration of 2025’s BTCC winners so far — the Perfect Ten — turns to last year’s champion, Jake Hill, who reasserted his presence with a commanding victory in race one at Brands Hatch Indy.
Brands Hatch Indy – Race 1
Starting from pole position, Hill delivered a flawless performance in his Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport BMW 330i M Sport, leading every lap from the outset. Demonstrating both pace and precision, the reigning champion launched clear off the line and quickly established control, maintaining a steady gap throughout the race.
Hill fended off strong challenges from teammate Charles Rainford, who secured second place, and title contender Tom Ingram, who completed the podium in third. Hill’s composed drive not only earned him his first win of the 2025 season, but also marked the 21st victory of his BTCC career so far.
This milestone triumph contributed to West Surrey Racing’s record-breaking 133rd victory in the series, underlining the team’s ongoing success in the championship.
The win elevated Hill to third in the Drivers’ Championship standings, just 12 points shy of the leader, signalling a strong resurgence after a less than ideal opening weekend.
Championship Outlook
At the halfway point of the season, Hill’s Brands Hatch win was a clear reminder of his calibre as reigning champion. With a blend of experience and determination, he remains a potent force on the grid.
The #1 has since dropped to fifth in the standings, but will be buoyed as the immediate stretch of races once the BTCC returns are circuits that have been kind to not only himself but the BMWs in recent years.
Looking ahead, Hill will aim to build on this momentum, converting strong performances into more podiums and victories as the 2025 season resumes at Croft (2/3 August).
