In the Spotlight: LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ

30th December 2024

The experienced and race-winning duo of Josh Cook and Aiden Moffat spearheaded LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ’s 2024 BTCC challenge, and both would once again stand on the top step of the podium during an exciting campaign.

The year began strongly for Moffat as the Dalkeith-born racer won the third contest of the season with a strong drive to take home the #16’s fifth win of his career. Leaving the Leicestershire circuit of Donington Park, the pair were fifth and sixth in the Drivers’ standings and second in the Teams’ order.

It would be the final event of the opening half of 2024 where we would see Cook take his first triumph of the season. Starting in eighth place, the #66 was incredibly in the lead come the end of lap one. In the end, cruising to victory by a gap of over eight seconds.

Having both drivers win across the 30-race season, the team could boast a statistic only eventual champion Jake Hill and his Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport team could match. After Hill, LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ were the only other team to have all of its drivers claim a win, as well as being the only team with two cars or more to do so.

The front-running form would continue as Bath-born racer Cook would win again at the next event, Croft. Racing at the sharp end, the now 20-time BTCC race-winner was slowly bringing himself back into title contention.

Followed by a second place in the opening bout at Knockhill and a double podium at Silverstone, the #66 found himself within a mathematical chance of winning the title at the final event of the year. Cook would round out the year with a podium finish and sixth in the overall Drivers’ standings.

In the end, the Speedworks Motorsport-run Toyota outfit would finish fourth in the Teams’ table, inside the top half of the championship order and beating its sister outfit in identical machinery.
