Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport’s Jake Hill converted pole position into victory in the opening Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship race at Brands Hatch.
Stablemate Charles Rainford kept the reigning champion honest in his LKQ-backed BMW, but Hill held firm to win the 133rd BTCC race for West Surrey Racing, making the squad the most successful team in BTCC history.
Rookie Rainford’s impressive performance was further rewarded with a new lap record around the Brands Hatch 1.21-mile Indy circuit, but he is learning from the best as local hero Hill failed to put a wheel wrong in the 24-lap contest.
There was an early switch for third as Tom Ingram blasted by his Team Vertu team-mate Adam Morgan to secure the final place on the podium. Ingram now leads the overall Drivers' standings by two points from Ash Sutton.
NAPA Racing UK's Dan Cammish kept Mikey Doble at bay in his #88 Vauxhall Astra, as the Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing squad continued its eye-catching start to the season.
WSR's Daryl DeLeon equalled his best ever BTCC result to claim seventh, whilst NAPA Racing UK's Sam Osborne continued his good form with eighth.
Restart Racing's Daniel Lloyd was ninth as he ended the race with four-time champion Sutton immediately behind him. The #116 battled his way from 13th to grab a top ten finish, as NAPA Racing UK man Sutton looks to make progress throughout the day.
Race 2 takes place at 14:05 with the finale commencing at 17:10 and all the action is currently LIVE on ITV4.
